                                                      Rare North West Mounted Police Shooting Medal
                                                                                                Obverse reads S. MAJ. / T. FLINTOFF / 1897
                                                      Sergeant-Major James Thomas Flintoff served in the NWMP from April 22, 1885 to April 30, 1911. 
                                 He won the "Best Revolver Shot in the Force" for the years 1895, 1896 and 1897 and received a medal for each year.

Enfield revolver issued in the late 1880's to S/M J. T. Flintoff, who won the NWMP Silver Shooting Medal shown above.  Although not confirmed, there is a high probability this was the revolver he used to win the medal. Close-up of Cartouche on left side of grip "NWMP" over "100" over "CANADA".

North West Medal 1885 with SASKATCHEWAN clasp
 named to W.H.T. LOWRY   CORP.   N.W.M.P.
Corporal William Hay Talbot LOWRY was born in Ireland on December 2, 1854; later he served as a Captain in the Galway Militia.
  He emigrated to Canada and joined the NWMP on June 7, 1883, and was assigned Regimental Number 907.  
During the North West Rebellion, he was attached to "E" Division {headquartered at Calgary} and was among some
75 members of the NWMP who fought in the Battle of Cut Knife Hill on May 2, 1885. 
During that battle, LOWRY was mortally wounded; he died the following day.
