Colt First Model Dragoon Single action  .44 caliber percussion. 6 shot. 71/2 inch part octagon, part round barrel. Address markings on barrel "ADDRESS SAML COLT NEWYORK CITY" Frame marked - "COLT'S/ PATENT/U.S." on left side of frame. Cylinder scene of Ranger and Indian fight . Square backed trigger guard, Oval cylinder stop slots. Three different models and some variations. Military (U.S.) and civilian models. This gun was made in 1849.

Navy Colt 1851 - Third Model - Small trigger guard - early production. Single action .36 caliber percussion. 6 shot. 7 1/2 inch octagon barrel. Address markings on barrel
"-ADDRESS SAML COLT NEW YORK CITY-". Marked on the left side of the frame "COLTS / PATENT ". Cylinder with naval scene. Blued finish. Back strap and trigger guard silver plated.
Other variations. This gun was made in 1853.

"-ADDRESS COL. SAML COLT NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA-" Marked on the left side of the frame "COLTS / PATENT ". Cylinder with naval scene. Blued finish. Back strap and trigger guard silver plated. This gun was made in 1870.

"-ADDRESS SAML COLT NEW.YORK CITY-". Marked on the left side of the frame "COLTS / PATENT / U.S.". Grips with inspector cartouche. Cylinder with naval scene. Blued finish. Back strap and trigger guard silver plated. This gun was made in 1857.

"-ADDRESS. COL: COLT. LONDON-". Marked on the left side of the frame "COLTS / PATENT". Cylinder with naval scene.
Iron backstrap and trigger guard. Marked with British proofs on barrel lug and each cylinder. This gun was made in 1855.

This gun was made in 1862.

"ADDRESS COL. SAML COLT NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA" Marked on the left side of the frame "COLTS / PATENT". Fluted cylinder with "PAT. SEPT. 10th 1850" in one flute of cylinder.
This gun was made in 1861.

Cavalry Model - Single action .45 caliber centerfire. 6 shots. 7 1/2 inch round barrel. Barrel address "+ COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD, CT. U.S.A.+" Italic slanted address. Fluted cylinder. Frame marked "PAT. SEPT. 19. 1871 / PAT.JULY 2 1872". Also stamped "U.S." on left side of frame. Various parts stamped with an "A" - Ainsworth inspector marks. Inspector's cartouche on grips. Blue finish - now gray. This gun was made in 1874.

Frame marked "PAT. SEPT. 19. 1871 / PAT.JULY 2 1872 / " JAN. 19 - 75" " Also stamped "U.S." on left side of frame. Major parts mismatched serial numbers and stamped with various Inspector's initials. Inspector's cartouche on grips. Blue finish - now gray.

Civilian Model - Single action .38 Colt caliber centerfire. 6 shots. 5 1/2 inch round barrel. Barrel address " COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD, CT. U.S.A.+ Fluted cylinder. Frame marked in three lines "PAT. SEPT. 19. 1871. / "" JULY. 2. -72. / ''' JAN. 19.-75" Caliber designation on left side, front bow of trigger guard. Blue or nickel plated. This gun has historiacal association with Jefferson "Soapy" Smith. This gun was made in 1888.

JAN 19.75" and a "Rampant Horse on a Circle" Blue or nickel plated. Made 1906..
