Frame marked "PAT. SEPT. 19. 1871 / PAT.JULY 2 1872". Also stamped "U.S." on left side of frame. Various parts stamped with an "A" - Ainsworth inspector marks. Inspector's cartouche on grips. Blue finish - now gray. This gun was made in 1874.
Artillry Model - Single action .45 caliber centerfire. 6 shots. 5 1/2 inch round barrel. Barrel address " COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD, CT. U.S.A." Gothic address. Fluted cylinder. Frame marked "PAT. SEPT. 19. 1871 / PAT.JULY 2 1872 / " JAN. 19 - 75" " Also stamped "U.S." on left side of frame. Major parts mismatched serial numbers and stamped with various Inspector's initials. Inspector's cartouche on grips. Blue finish - now gray.

Frame marked in three lines "PAT. SEPT. 19. 1871. / "" JULY. 2. -72. / ''' JAN. 19.-75" Caliber designation on left side, front bow of trigger guard. Blue or nickel plated. This gun has historiacal association with Jefferson "Soapy" Smith. This gun was made in 1888. |
